Aura Health offers following group programs in 2025

Integration Focused Yoga Therapy for Sexual Trauma (Samunnaya Yoga Chikitsa)

This Integration Focused Yoga Group Therapy for those who experiences Anxiety, Depression and PTSD and those who would like to to reprocess these painful experiences to achieve overall wellbeing. The therapy aims to help participants gain a better understanding of their body and mind, tuning into their “Calm and Collected Self” and fostering a sense of unity within themselves. The program is limited to 10 participants, with each session lasting one and a half hours, totalling nine hours of therapy. The group will meet for 6 weeks on either on Fridays or on Thursdays.

Term 1 – March 7th – April 11th, every Fridays from 10 am – 11.30 am.

Term 4 – October 9th to November 20th, every Thursdays from 5.45 pm to 7.15 pm.

Days: October 9th, 16th, 23rd and November 6th, 13th and 20th.

Venue: Te Manawa Atawhai Catherine McAuley Centre, 31 Peer Street, Upper Riccarton, Christchurch


Fees for Yoga Therapy Group Programs

Fees: Individuals: $600; Business: $900 (partially funded by Aura Health).

Research participant’s rate: Individuals: $300; Business: $450 (Those participating in research will complete questionnaires assessing their wellbeing before and after the program, funded by Aura Health).


Facilitator – Dr Jain Joseph, PhD

Dr Jain Joseph is an experienced clinical psychologist with 24 years of professional practice. He holds accreditation as an EMDR therapist and is currently working towards advanced accreditation in Schema Therapy. His academic qualifications include a Master of Arts in Applied Psychology (MA), a Master of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology (M.Phil), and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Psychology.

Dr Joseph began his yoga practice in 1995 during his undergraduate studies in Philosophy. He earned Certificates in Basic Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga in 1998. In the same year, he was initiated into Babaji Kriya Yoga by the late Yogiar S. A. A. Ramaiah. He further advanced his expertise by completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Yoga in 2005. Since 1999, Dr Joseph has been teaching yoga and integrating Yoga therapy to address psychological issues such as anxiety, depression, somatic symptoms, and trauma. He conducted Yoga Therapy group sessions for individuals with complex mental illnesses at Princess Margaret Hospital for several years.
